Governor Greg Abbott appoints Brook Fulks to the 470th District Court in Collin County, Texas

DALLAS, TEXAS – Today, Governor Greg Abbott appointed Collin County Lawyer Brook Fulks to the 470th District Court in Collin County, Texas.

Ms. Fulks currently serves as a Partner at O’Neil Wysocki, P.C., a family law boutique firm, where she specializes in handling a wide-range of family law and domestic relations matters from divorce and child custody cases, complex marital property divisions, and suits involving child endangerment and domestic violence. She has advocated for family law clients in the district courts in the Collin and Denton County area as well as the Texas appellate courts. She assisted in handling several high profile cases in the Texas Supreme Court on family law issues as well. As a certified mediator, she frequently assists other lawyers in reaching agreed settlements in contested matters.

For the past 5 years, Ms. Fulks has been named to the list of Texas Super Lawyers Rising Stars and in 2022 received the honor of being named among the Top 50 Up- and-Coming Women Lawyers. In 2021, Ms. Fulks earned board certification as a Texas family law specialist by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization by passing a complex test on substantive law, a background check on her legal competency, and a peer review.

She trained in trial advocacy at Baylor University School of Law, where she received her Juris Doctor degree in 2011. Brook completed her advanced mediation training with emphasis on marital disputes through Abilene Christian University where she also received her Master of Science degree in Psychology in 2006. Ms. Fulks’ undergraduate degree is in psychology from LeTourneau University.

Ms. Fulks currently serves as the President of the Collin County Bar Association and is serving her third term as President of the Collin County Child Protective Services Board. For the past two years, Ms. Fulks has helped train upcoming family law attorneys as part of the faculty for the Family Law Trial Skills Bootcamp course at Baylor University School of Law. She serves as a member of the State Bar of Texas Local Bar Services Committee. She also helps direct the Collin County Bar Association’s Trial Academy project.

Ms. Fulks performs community service through the Junior League of Collin County and previously served in Leadership McKinney. She served as the Senate District 8 Director for Texas Federation of Republican Women, former president of Golden Corridor Republican Women, and has served for three years as the co-chair of the Collin County Lincoln Day Dinner. She is active in the Collin County Republican Party leadership and committees.

Brook lives in Frisco with her husband Caleb and three children.

Ms. Fulks’ appointment is subject to Senate confirmation and extends through December 31, 2024.
