Troy Pickett
Attorney
When choosing an area of legal practice, Troy Pickett believed it was important for his work to make a difference in people’s lives at a time when it would be most meaningful to them, and he finds that family law provides that opportunity.
Troy represents clients in complex custody and property disputes from the initial stages of the case, through the information gathering process, all the way through settlement and trial, if necessary. He understands that family court may be a person’s only exposure to the justice system, and it is the lawyer’s responsibility to be a guide to understanding the process, so he wants to make sure his clients know what is happening in their case in a way that they understand.
Troy is also adept at handling matters in the appellate courts when a party seeks to overturn the decision made at trial. This experience informs his trial strategy and provides valuable insight into even the most complex cases.
Recognized among the top 5% of family lawyers statewide, Troy was named to the list of Texas SuperLawyers in family law in 2023 and 2024 as well as the list of Texas Super Lawyer Rising Stars in family law from 2015 through 2020.
Troy attended the South Texas College of Law, where he was the President of the Student Bar Association and a member of the editorial board of the South Texas Law Review. Before law school he received two degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and became a life-long Longhorn in the process.
Family is the most important thing to Troy. Outside of work, he loves spending time with his wife and son watching football (Hook ‘em Horns!), raking leaves, or building computers. When they can get away for a weekend, he and his wife love to take their son to play in the sand in Galveston!
